China reports new African swine fever outbreak

China has notified the OIE of the detection of a new outbreak of African swine fever on an island in the south of the country, Taiyang, Liji municipality.

The outbreak started on October 23rd and was confirmed on October 31st and notified to the OIE on November 9th.

It has affected 1,063 pigs on a pig farm and the origin of the infection among the animals has not been determined.

Among the measures taken by the authorities are disinfection, disinfestation, restriction of animal movements in the island and surveillance of the containment and protection zone.
